Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme is the latest celebrity to dig into the furore caused by a proposed move by the Federal Government of Nigeria to ban the shooting and production of videos outside the shores of the country.
The thespian joined his other colleagues in the entertainment industry like the PSquare brothers and Yemi Alade who have all lashed out at the proposed move by the FG.
Chidi reacted to the issue, mocking the FG, by posting a hilarious video of African hunters trying to destroy a drone with arrows with the caption; “APC “Travel Ban” police when they see @peterpsquare and @donjazzy shooting music video for their collabo….🚶🚶🚶🚶🚶 #ChidiSense.”
Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed suggested that he was misquoted while clarifying comments earlier attributed to him on the proposed ban.
Speaking at the Creative Industry Financing Conference held at Eko Hotels with the theme ‘Financing the Film, Television and Music Industries’, he said; “At COSON, I said that I would work to amend the National Broadcasting Commission’s code to ensure that if a product is designated a Nigerian product, it must be produced in Nigeria. I didn’t say that, henceforth, all music and films would or must be produced in Nigeria.
Continuing, he added that; “All I said was that if a programme is designated as a Nigerian content programme, we will amend the code to ensure that it is produced in Nigeria. I didn’t say I’ll ban the production of Nigerian movies and videos overseas.”
